File Remover Help
This page describes how to use the File Remover program. The source code and executable can be found on the software page.
Use this program with care, once you've deleted data using this program you will have little chance of the recovering the data.
Controls
Configure Files to Remove. Specify the files to be removed by the program.
Configure Directories to Ignore. Specify any directory hierarchies that should not be searched for files to be deleted.
Load Configuration. Load a previously saved configuration.
Save Configuration. Save the current settings to a configuration file for later use.
Scan Files. Scans the computer for files to remove, but does not remove the files.
Remove Files. Scans the computer for files to remove, and confirms (if requested) which files to remove.
Directories to Scan.
- All Disk Drives. Search all directories on all disk drives and removable media.
- System Directories and $PATH. Search only the system directories and the directories in the PATH environment variable.
Rename file instead of delete. Select this check box if you would rather have the files renamed with a ".rem" extension, instead of deleting the files.
Confirm file delete. Select this check box if you require confirmation for each file deleted. This is recommended.
Always confirm file delete in system directory. Select this check box if you require confirmation for each file deleted that is in a system directory.
Cancel. Dismiss the dialog.
As always with programs that delete files, be very certain that you want to delete the files before proceeding. Object Media will not be held responsible for any loss incurred by using this program. You use this program at your own risk.
